The 35th edition of the Taj Mahotsav commenced on February 18, drawing crowds to celebrate India’s rich heritage through art, crafts, cuisine, and performances. This 10-day extravaganza, running until February 27, promises a vibrant showcase of national diversity against the backdrop of the iconic Taj Mahal.
Organized at the open ground near the I Love Agra Selfie Point on Fatehabad Road—shifted from the traditional Shilpgram venue—the festival operates daily from 10 AM to 10 PM. Entry tickets are priced at ₹50 for adults, available only at on-site counters, with free access for children under three and foreign tourists in some reports. Visitors are immersing themselves in over 500 stalls featuring handicrafts like textiles, pottery, metalwork, and folk art from across India, alongside food courts offering Rajasthani, Mughlai, South Indian delicacies, street snacks, and thandai.
The grand central stage hosts evening performances of music, dance, poetry, and fusion acts representing regional traditions, with celebrity shows adding star power. Under the theme ‘Vande Mataram – Tradition and Pride of the Nation’ or ‘Dharohar,’ the event includes tourism activities like bike rallies, the ‘Agra Beyond Taj’ seminar, Yamuna Maha Aarti, and a wildlife exhibition.
As Agra buzzes with energy, the festival not only boosts local tourism but also spotlights artisans and performers, fostering cultural pride. Photography is encouraged at stalls and shows, making it a selfie haven for attendees.
