Director Farhan Akhtar is finally steering his long‑delayed passion project Jee Le Zaraa back into active development, with plans to take the film on floors in the second half of 2026, industry sources confirm. The all‑female road‑trip drama will star Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt, marking a rare big‑screen reunion of three of Bollywood’s top actresses.
The move comes as Akhtar temporarily sidelines Don 3, which has been stalled by casting complications following Ranveer Singh’s exit from the franchise. A source close to the production told media outlets that Akhtar feels the casting for Don is too crucial to rush, so he has chosen to channel his energy into Jee Le Zaraa, a project he has described as special and creatively genius.
According to insiders, the screenplay for Jee Le Zaraa is already locked, and preparatory work such as location scouting and music recording has largely been completed. The main hurdle has been aligning the packed schedules of Chopra, Kaif and Bhatt, but Akhtar has reportedly begun fresh discussions with all three and is hopeful of finding a common window later this year.
If the dates fall into place, Jee Le Zaraa is expected to join the league of Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby’s friendship‑centric trilogy, following Dil Chahta Hai and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Fans of the Dil Chahta Hai creative trio, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, have greeted the news with renewed excitement, hoping the long‑awaited road‑trip drama will finally hit theatres in the coming years.
