India’s telecom department on had approved the applications of few telecom companies to conduct the 5 G trials with a condition that none of these companies will use technology from Chinese entities. This has moved the top US lawmakers who have applauded this step of India.
House foreign affairs committee Lead republican and China task force chairman Michael McCaul commenting on this move has said that India’s decision to exclude Huawei and ZTE from its 5G trials is good news for people of India and world.
The Trump administration had designated Chinese tech companies as posing a national security risk. The US is also asking its friends and allies not to opt for a technology that is controlled by Communist Party of China.
Congressman Mike Waltz also thanked India for its decision.
“Thank you India for denying the inclusion of CCP run Huawei in their telecommunications” he said.
The department of telecom had approved the applications of Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, MTNL to conduct the 5G trials.
