‘Sewa international USA raises $4.7 million for COVID-hit India’

Sewa international USA, a non-profit organization has set an example by raising nearly 4.7 million USD funds to support India in fight against COVID-19. The organization was aiming to raise around 5 million USD. It has already sent 400 oxygen concentrators and other necessary medical devices and supplies to India.

The organization has started a campaign named ‘Help India to defeat COVID-19’. The organization is providing food and medicines to around 10000 families and 1000 orphanages across the country.

On Monday, the social media handles of the organization announced that the organization has procured 2000 Additional Oxygen Concentrators and plans to Ship Them to India This Week.

“We have procured 2000 additional oxygen concentrators in the US. They will be shipped to India in two installments this week, one on Monday and the other on Friday. Sewa’s procurement team is working on the shipping modalities” the statement issued by the organization said.

They further added that a team of 800 volunteers are involved in distribution of these equipments. Sewa is in the process of forming a steering committee that contains academicians, public health professionals and community representatives to ensure we distribute these equitably across India based on the need on the ground.

The Sewa International India Team is working on identifying the cities and hospitals to send these 2000 concentrators. Once delivered to India, this would bring the total number of oxygen concentrators sent to India by Sewa International to 4584, the statement concluded.
