Bergen County is thrilled to announce its first annual Diwali celebration, to be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 5:30 PM at the Bergen County Administrative Office, 2 Bergen County Plaza, Hackensack, NJ.
This milestone event reflects the County’s commitment to celebrating and promoting the rich cultural heritage of its diverse communities. BINDIA (Bergen India), a coalition of Indian American community leaders and residents from across Bergen County is collaborating on this initiative. They represent townships of Allendale, Alpine, Closter, Cresskill, Demarest, Englewood, Englewood Cliffs, Fair Lawn, Franklin Lakes, Fort Lee, Glen Rock, Leonia, Mahwah, Norwood, Oakland, Oradell, Paramus, Ridgewood, River Edge, Saddle River, Tenafly, Upper Saddle River, Westwood, Woodcliff Lake, and Wyckoff.
The celebration will highlight the vibrant traditions, music, dance, and food of Diwali, the Festival of Lights, fostering cultural understanding and community connection across Bergen County.
“This inaugural Diwali celebration is a wonderful opportunity to honor the Indian American community and celebrate the rich diversity that makes Bergen County so special,” said Bergen County Executive. “We are proud to partner with BINDIA to make this event a memorable experience for residents of all backgrounds.”

“Diwali is a time of joy, reflection, and togetherness,” said BINDIA Representative. “Through this celebration, we hope to share the beauty of Indian culture and traditions, and build stronger connections across Bergen County.”
Guests will enjoy cultural performances, traditional lighting of the diya (lamp), and opportunities to learn about Indian customs and traditions.
All community members and leaders are warmly invited to attend and participate in this historic celebration.
