Well-known Bollywood singer Zubeen Garg, majorly remembered for his song ‘Ya Ali’, has passed away in a freak accident in Singapore while scuba diving. The 52 year old Assamese singer was attending the North East India Festival in Singapore where he was scheduled to perform in the upcoming days on September 20th and 21st.
Garg went on an adventure to scuba dive in the sea and as informed by a representative of the North East India Festival, Anuj Kumar Boruah, the singer had breathing difficulties. He was then rescued from the sea and given CPR and was taken to the hospital. Sadly, the singer passed away in the Singapore General Hospital around 2:30 PM Indian time.
“It is with deep sadness that we share the news of Zubeen Garg’s passing. While scuba diving, he experienced breathing difficulties and was immediately given CPR before being rushed to Singapore General Hospital. Despite efforts to save him, he was declared deceased in the ICU around 2.30 pm IST,” said Anuj Kumar Boruah.
The singer rose to fame with the song ‘Ya Ali’ from the movie Gangster starring Emran Hashmi and Kangana Ranaut. He then gave several hits for the blockbuster film, Krrish 3 such as Dil Tu Hi Bataa. Garg was not limited to the Hindi Film Industry and worked in films and music across different industries. He sang in Assamese, Bengali and Hindi-language films. He had also acted in and directed many movies such as Kanchanjunga, Mission China, Dinabandhu, Mon Jai which were super hits.
