India beat Pakistan in Asia Cup as Suryakumar Yadav dedicates win to Pahalgam victims

India and Pakistan’s clash this Sunday, on 14th September, was a highly talked about affair because of the tense political ties between the two nations. India entered the match as heavy favourites and did justice to the hype they had defeating Pakistan in a thumping fashion by 7 wickets with more than 4 overs remaining. Kuldeep Yadav was awarded the Man of the match award for his amazing performance with the ball.

Pakistan started the match on a high, winning the toss and choosing to bat but that was the only time Pakistan had the upper hand. When they came to bat, Pakistan lost their first two wickets in the first 8 balls. After that Indian spinners – Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel, took over the reins and took 6 wickets amongst them with Kuldeep leading the attack with 3 wickets to his name.

Pakistan ended their innings with a below par score of 127 that too on the back of a late blitz from Shaheen Afridi scoring 33 runs of 16 balls. Then India came to bat and started off with a bang with Abhishek Sharma taking charge scoring 31 runs off 13 balls. After his departure, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav (47 runs off 37 balls) took over the baton alongside Tilak Varma (31 runs off 31 balls) and guided the team to a comfortable victory.

After the game, in the post match ceremony, Surya dedicated the victory to the armed forces of the country and stated that the team wishes to give them more opportunities to smile. He also stated that the team stands by the family of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack/.

“Perfect occasion, taking the time out, we stand by the families of the victims of Pahalgam terror attack. We express our solidarity. Want to dedicate the win to all our armed forces who showed a lot of bravery. Hope they continue to inspire us all and we give them more reasons on the ground whenever we get an opportunity to make them smile,” the Indian captain said.
