On the occasion of the 34th Independence Day of Ukraine, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent his best wishes to the country on 24th August. Replying to that, this Tuesday, on August 26th, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked PM Modi for his warm greetings and stated on how the country is counting on India’s contribution to ending their war with Russia.

Ukraine’s President put up a post on his social media account thanking PM Modi for the warm greetings. He stated that Ukraine appreciated India’s dedication for peace and dialogue and counted on them to help them in ending the ongoing war. Zelensky in his post had also posted a letter sent by PM Modi on August 24th, which stated that he looked forward to mutually beneficial cooperation of the two nations.

“Thank you, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for the warm greetings on Ukraine’s Independence Day. We appreciate India’s dedication to peace and dialogue. Now, as the entire world strives to end this horrible war with dignity and lasting peace, we count on India’s contribution. Every decision that strengthens diplomacy leads to better security not only in Europe, but also in the Indo-Pacific and beyond.”

President Zelensky, earlier on 15th August, had congratulated India and sent his warm greetings as well. PM Modi posting on his X handle had thanked him back then. The Indian PM also stated that he values the commitment from both sides to strengthen the bond between India and Ukraine and wishes ‘peace, progress and prosperity’ towards them in the future.
