This Friday, on August 22nd, sad news struck the Punjab movie industry as popular Punjabi actor and comedian Jaswinder Bhalla passed away in Mohali, Punjab. Jaswinder Bhalla was 65 years of age and as per the reports had been unwell for the past few months. The sudden demise of the famous actor comedian, shook the industry and his fans.
Many political leaders shared their condolences and remembered one of the stalwarts of Punjabi Film Industry in their prayers. The Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, who is a former actor and comedian himself, shared a heartfelt post condoling the death of Bhalla on his social media account.
He wrote, “The sudden departure of Jaswinder Bhalla ji from this world is very sad.. My heart is saddened by the closure of the Chhankatas.. May Waheguru grant us a place at his feet… Uncle Chatra will always remain in our hearts..”
As the news of Bhalla’s demise broke, the former Deputy CM of Delhi and leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Manish Sisodia shared his condolences through his X account. He called the news extremely saddening and prayed for his departed soul.
“The news of the passing of Punjab’s famous comedian Jaswinder Bhalla Ji is extremely saddening. He brought smiles to the faces of millions with his art. I pray to God to grant peace to the departed soul and strength to the family during this difficult time. Om Shanti,” Sisodia wrote on X in Hindi.
In addition to that, Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa condoled the passing of the renowned Punjabi comedian and actor. He called Bhalla a symbol of Punjabi wit, humour and spirit. He lauded the comedian’s simplicity and stated that the stage of Punjabi laughter is silent and empty today.
Sirsa wrote, “The stage of Punjabi laughter stands silent & empty today… Jaswinder Bhalla ji was a living symbol of Punjabi wit, humour and spirit. With his unmatched talent, he turned simplicity into laughter and made generations smile. Waheguru ji blesses his noble soul with peace.”
