Amidst the threats of severe penalties from the President of the United States, Donald Trump the Chinese Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong took a jab at the US President. The Chinese envoy to India took to his social media account to pass a strong remark on Trump after his heavy tariff impositions on different countries including India.

Xu Feihong, wrote on X, “Give the bully an inch, he will take a mile.” Along with this comment, Feihong also added a photo that quoted an excerpt from the conversation between Wang Yi, the Foreign Minister of China and Celso Amorim, the Chief Advisor to Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

The quote read, “Using tariffs as a weapon to suppress other countries violates the UN (United Nations) Charter, undermines WTO (World Trade Organisation) rules and is both unpopular and unsustainable.”

The tariffs introduced by Trump have shocked everyone and questioned many diplomatic ties that the US had with various different countries. India was expected to be among the first countries that was set to sign a trade deal with Trump’s team. However, these talks fell through after around five rounds of negotiations. The deals have fallen based on disagreements on opening India’s vast farm and dairy sectors and the country’s decision to continue the imports of Russian crude oil.

Donald Trump in a recent news conference in the White House has warned China after he doubled the import duties on India stating they could be next. He said, “It may happen, I don’t know, I can’t tell you yet, we did it with India and we are doing it probably with a couple of others, one of them could be China.”
