Veteran Bollywood actress Kajol who was present at the Maharashtra State Film Awards 2025 has found herself in a heap of trouble. The actress, despite winning an award at the event, made some remarks that have received a huge backlash from the Internet.

The whole incident took place when on Tuesday, August 5th, Kajol at the Maharashtra State Film Awards 2025 was honoured with the prestigious Raj Kapoor Award for her contribution to Indian cinema. Kajol was speaking to the reporters in Marathi and when a reporter asked her to speak in Hindi as well for people to understand, the actress blatantly denied stating those who want to understand will figure it out.

In the video, she is heard saying, “Abhi main Hindi mein bolu (Now should I speak in Hindi too)? Jisko samajhna hai woh samajh lenge (Those who want to understand what I said, will figure it out).”

Internet users were enraged with the reply of the Bollywood actress with many demanding her to stop doing Hindi films if she has a problem with speaking the language. Many even highlighted that she earned so much fame from Hindi films so how can she give a statement like this.

A comment read, “Then why do you make films in Hindi?”

Another user said, “Ask her to stop doing Hindi films. She should only do Marathi films.”

A post on X read, “After earning so much money and fame through the Hindi audience, Kajol says, ‘Ab Hindi mein bolun? Jisko samajhna hai samajh le’.”

With the already heated notion on the internet over the whole debate around the languages that has surfaced all around in recent times, people didn’t appreciate her comments. The recent controversies surrounding the imposition of speaking Marathi on those living in Maharashtra has become a polarising topic of discussion and thus many on the internet were upset over Kajol’s remarks.
