The red-ball season ends for India after what can be called one of the most thrilling and competitive series in a long while that ended with a very justified draw 2-2. Now, the Indian team will be moving from the longest format of the game to the shortest format of the game as the Asia Cup is just a month away.

After such great performances from so many Indian players in the Anderson Tendulkar Trophy it would be interesting to see who makes it and who misses out from the squad for the Asia Cup. Here is the list of 5 players who could be missing the tournament to determine the best team in the continent:

Shubman Gill

The Captain of the Indian Test side who has made a statement with an epic performance in the series and by the way he led the Indian side which was dealing with the retirements of their greats. He won’t be part of the Asia Cup squad as he has now been named the captain of North Zone in the Duleep Trophy. Also, India has a settled opening pair in T20s in Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson.

KL Rahul

Rahul has been one of India’s key performers and with the retirement of Ravichandran Ashwin, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli is one of the most senior players in the side. But Rahul has not been the part of India’s T20 set up in the 2022 World Cup so it is highly likely he won’t be a part of the Asia Cup squad.

Jasprit Bumrah

India’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah was part of the recent series against England but was released from the squad after the fourth test match of the series. He just played 3 tests because of his workload management and for the same reason he would likely be rested in the Asia Cup squad.

Yashasvi Jaiswal

Another opener who is expected to miss out on a spot in the Indian squad for the Asia Cup is Yashasvi Jaiswal. He was named in the West Zone squad for the Duleep Trophy and likely won’t be part of Asia Cup.

Rishabh Pant

India’s star wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant after a tremendous series in England suffered a very unfortunate injury in the fourth Test of the series. So, he would be aiding this injury and will not be a part of the Indian squad for Asia Cup.
