Bollywood actress, Vaani Kapoor is part of the newly released Netflix series Mandala Murders that is making waves on the platform. She was recently in an interview where she talked about perception of beauty, social media trolls and why she chose a series that was female-dominated to make her OTT debut. Vaani even admitted in the interview that she gets affected by trolls on social media.
In the interview, Vaani was asked whether she reads troll comments online and does they affect her in any way. Vaani stated that she does get bothered by these haters and trolls. Sometimes it seems funny to her and sometimes it can even strike a nerve and affects her deeply.
Vaani said, “I am human. Haters, trolls, and social media hatred sometimes bother you. Sometimes I scroll past and feel like ‘What a waste!’ Sometimes I check their profiles and see the account has zero followers and zero posts. I realise, it’s bought. Sometimes trolls baffle you, sometimes I take them humorously. (But) They can deeply affect you.”
The actress also highlighted that she always tries to take social media trolls with a pinch of salt as she thinks they form their perception on undercooked information. She emphasized that the right audience won’t make these sly comments on things they will give her constructive criticism.
“The worst part is, a large section of impressionable minds gets influenced by that half-baked, undercooked information and forms their own perceptions. As I said before, the right audience won’t comment on unnecessary things. They will write ethical or constructive things about your art and craft,” Vaani concluded.
Her new web series Mandala Murders is co-directed by Gopi Puthran of Mardaani 2 fame, along with Manan Rawat. The cast of the movie alongside Vaani includes actresses like Surveen Chawla, Vaibhav Raj Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, and Shriya Pilgaonkar.
