The Indo-American Cultural Foundation of Central Jersey (IACFNJ) will host a grand celebration of India’s Independence Day on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 11 a.m. at Shree Swaminarayan Temple (Vadtal Dham), 1667 Amwell Road, Somerset, NJ 08873.
This vibrant community event will feature patriotic and cultural dance performances, live singing, a DJ, fun games for children, henna tattoos, and more. Local and state elected officials will join the celebration to address the audience and mark the occasion with the community. The event is free and open to the public, drawing attendees of all ages from South Brunswick, North Brunswick, Somerset and neighboring towns. In partnership with Shree Swaminarayan Temple, IACFNJ continues its tradition of bringing the community together through meaningful events that reflect Indian heritage and unity.
As part of its ongoing commitment to education and youth empowerment, IACFNJ proudly sponsored seven scholarships in 2025 for students at North and South Brunswick High Schools. These scholarships recognized students for academic excellence and merit. Two scholarships at North Brunswick High School were awarded in memory of two late IACFNJ stalwarts, Murthy Yerramilli (Trustee) and Sunil Shah (Treasurer). The scholarships were presented by Darshan Shah, son of Sunil Shah, and IACFNJ President Dr. Tushar Patel, Mahendra Patel, Dimple Patel at the respective schools’ Senior Awards Nights on June 3 and 11, 2025.
For more than two decades, IACFNJ has been a cornerstone for the Indian-American community in Central Jersey, organizing well-attended events like Navratri Garba, spring festivals, holiday parties, summer picnics, and Independence Day celebrations. The foundation remains especially popular among the younger generation and continues to grow its impact in the South Asian community.
