The Indian Consulate at New York and Shradhaa Foundation continued the tradition of celebrating Vijay Diwas every year. This time the event was held at King’s Palace Banquet Hall in Edison, NJ, the hub of Indian Diaspora. The Shradhaa Team led by its Co-founder Ms. Seema Jagtiani and volunteers organized an elegant function to celebrate the victory achieved by India’s brave hearts 26 years ago on the highest battlefield in the world. The audience was reminded of the sacrifices made by Indian Soldiers since 1947 till date, to achieve victories in 1947-48, 1965, 1971, Kargil War 1999 and recently paused Operation Sindoor.

The Deputy Consul General (Cultural Department) Shri Piyush Singh worked very hard with team Shradhaa to make this event a memorable one. Former Chief of Indian Army Gen D S Suhag was the chief guest who appreciated the enthusiasm shown by the Indian Diaspora by turning out in large numbers to celebrate this great day. Indian Consulate just like every year provided maximum support to Shradhaa Foundation to organize the event with the elan and finesse that it deserves. Every year Shradhaa Foundation presents one battle fought by our brave soldiers. This year Col Virendra Tavathia, Co-Founder and Trustee of Shradhaa Foundation presented the famous battle of Dograi fought by the brave soldiers of 3rd Battalion of Jat Regiment, first on 6th September 1965 and then on 21-22 September 1965 that broke the Pakistan Army’s will to fight and made them accept the cease fire. The Indian Forces had occupied Icchogil Canal barely 13 km East of the prestigious city of Lahore. Col Tavathia made the audience aware about the Geo-Political situation in 1965, and the events leading to an all-out war.

The event’s Chief Guest explained the audience about the challenges faced by the Indian Army since 1947 and the efforts taken by various leaders to make our army one of the strongest Army in the world. He also mentioned that Indian Army is the only Army in the world that has created a nation on humanitarian grounds.
Young Natasha and Naisha performed the master of ceremony with professional elegance, while Irfaan Ali, Rantik Parikh, Gauri Singha, Prakhar Ghosh and many other local artists entertained the audience with patriotic songs. DJ Ripple provided the sound and the wonderful music making the people dance.

The TV Asia and Radio Zindagi provided media coverage while King’s Palace excelled in providing excellent food with efficient services. Shradhaa Foundation and the organizers of the event are overwhelmed with messages of appreciation for such an energetic and exclusive event dedicated to Indian Army. The Indian diaspora was visibly upbeat to see the real hero, Gen Suhag amongst them whom they could meet rarely. The success of Vijay Diwas celebration lies in the fact that attendees promised to be part of future events organized by Shradhaa Foundation.
