After the epic third test at the Lord’s, India were in for an eight-day break and people expected that it would serve them well and the team would come rejuvenated in the Manchester Test. But ahead of the fourth test, the Indian team has been struck down by multiple injuries to their players. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Arshdeep Singh both have reportedly been injured with the all-rounder being ruled out for the remainder of the series.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reported that while Reddy has been ruled out of the remaining two matches of the series, the left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh has been ruled out of the next match. They have stated that the board’s medical team will be keeping an eye on his situation and will decide his availability for the last test considering the progress.
The statement by the board said, “All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the remaining two Tests owing to a left knee injury. Nitish will fly back home, and the team wishes him a speedy recovery. Arshdeep Singh has been ruled out of the fourth Test against England at Manchester. He sustained an impact injury to his left thumb while bowling in the nets at a training session in Beckenham. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring his progress.”
While announcing the replacement of Nitish Reddy, the selection committee has called in young Anshul Kamboj to join the team for the next two tests. Kamboj who plays in the IPL for the Chennai Super Kings franchise has joined the team in Manchester. The board stated, “The Men’s Selection Committee has added Anshul Kamboj to the squad. Kamboj has joined the team in Manchester. The fourth Test will kickstart on July 23, 2025.”
There were reports stating that Akash Deep’s fitness was in major doubts but there has been no clarification regarding it. As per the reports, Jasprit Bumrah could be playing the 4th Test and the team might entertain the thought of playing the chinaman spinner, Kuldeep Yadav.
