As Dhadak 2’s trailer starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tripti Dimri released, people recalled the first part of the franchise. The movie that released seven years ago on 20th July 2018 was a launchpad for two star kids Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor.

The film that was just being looked at as another remake by Bollywood might have been a bit ahead of its time and didn’t get the credit it deserved. The movie backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma productions was labelled as just a remake of Sairat, the Marathi hit film.

What was perceived as just a typical glossy remake by Bollywood of a regional film was a beautiful blend of beautiful and aesthetic cinematography and a heart-touching story with an ending that hardly anyone expected. While many expected Dhadak to be another Dharma film, it surprised everyone showcasing the brutality of caste discrimination and the violence it brings forward.

Dhadak, while dealing with such serious issues didn’t fail to portray a beautiful love story on the screen. The chemistry between the two leads was beautiful. The film also beautifully depicted the friendship of the male lead with his group. The film had strong performances all around from the cast with veteran actors doing commendable jobs.

A trait that the franchise has chosen to retain is around discrimination and the caste-system prevalent in the country. Dhadak 2’s trailer showcases the same intricacies in the spiritual sequel. The trailer showcases the discrimination faced by individuals on the basis of their caste, an issue that mainstream Bollywood hasn’t really dwelled into barring some projects.

Dhadak 2 is all set to release on the big screens next month on 1st August and will be a big test for Siddhant, who has struggled in his last few films at the box office.
