Ricky Kej, the three-time Grammy award winner, has been in the news recently after his recent remarks on one of the most loved Bollywood movies, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ). The Music composer commented on one of the most iconic scenes from the movie in its climax and many people were not very keen on his comments.
This year it will mark the 30 year anniversary of the iconic movie this October and people were talking about it. An X user a few days back posted a clip of the movie of the famous train sequence in the climax with Simran (played by Kajol) running to catch the train and Raj (played by Shah Rukh Khan) extending his hand to help her get on the train. The X user called the scene as one that can define cinema like no other.
However, Ricky Kej didn’t quite agree with his sentiments as he pointed out one of the most common details and made sly remarks at the film makers. He stated that it looked like they have never been on a train or they would’ve seen the obvious.
He took to his social media account and wrote, “If any of the film makers had ever been on a train in their lives.. they would have known that Kajol could have entered from any door, and would have been able to reach Shah Rukh Khan.”
Many netizens were irked by the statement and began defending their favourite movie with several different reasoning and analysis which the music composer took very sportingly. A user even compared it to Titanic and wrote, “This could be Bollywood’s version of ‘could Jack and Rose both fit on the door in Titanic?’”
