The Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY is pleased to announce leadership changes to its foundation board of directors, marking a pivotal moment in the school’s mission to provide accessible, high-quality journalism education.
Vivek Shah has been elected as the new chair of the Newmark J-School Foundation board. As Chief Executive Officer of Ziff Davis, a vertically focused digital media and internet company, Shah brings extensive experience in digital transformation and media leadership. His background includes senior management positions at Time, Inc., where he served as Digital Group President and President of the Fortune/Money Group.
Shah succeeds Arthur Sulzberger Jr., a board member since 2018 and former chairman of The New York Times Company.
The Newmark J-School Foundation funds scholarships, internship stipends, research, training, and programmatic activities supporting the school’s educational mission. This board expansion is core to the tuition-free campaign and reinforces CUNY’s decades-long commitment as a beacon of access and opportunity for New Yorkers.
