A splash of color, a spirit of unity, and a whole lot of energy — that’s what lit up Community Park in North Brunswick on the morning of Sunday, June 1, 2025, as the Rotary Club of Plainsboro, North & South Brunswick hosted its 6th annual KOLOR Run 5K.  More than 150 people laced up their sneakers and came out to celebrate this year’s theme: “Run Together, Stay United.” The event wasn’t just a run — it was a full community celebration of health, service, and togetherness.

The day started bright and early with a powerful yoga session led by Juhi Mehta Desai of Myntra Yoga. Over 100 participants took part, flowing through poses as the morning sun rose — setting a peaceful, yet energized tone for the day.

Rotary Club President Hemal Dhavalikar welcomed the crowd, sharing heartfelt words of appreciation for the community’s ongoing support of Rotary’s mission — “Service Above Self.” Among the guests was Bob Law, the incoming District Governor for Rotary District 7475. He praised the club as a model of passion and dedication, saying the energy of RCOP is exactly what Rotary is all about. Also, in attendance was Dr. Sanjeev Mehta, a former Rotarian from Ahmedabad, India, who commended the club for their exceptional community work, both locally and abroad.

Runners of all ages and backgrounds took to the track — each one receiving a vibrant Rotary-branded T-shirt and commemorative medallion. And when it came to race times, there were some impressive performances. In the men’s category, it was a tie for first place — Fernando Tuller and Guatavo Silva both clocking in at 6.8 minutes. Valbain followed in third, finishing in 6.32 minutes. In the women’s category, Susan Caputo took first with a speedy 6.16 minutes, Glauci Werli came second at 6.42, and Karynyy Serra rounded out the podium at 7.36 minutes.

The morning ended with a lively Zumba session, where music, movement, and smiles filled the park. It was especially popular with the younger crowd, who danced their way until the end.  The entire event was carefully choreographed and executed by Sanjeev Dixit and Blisse Vakkalagadda, ensuring everything flowed smoothly from start to finish — while Taral Pancholi brought energy and excitement as the Master of Ceremony.  The talented and young group of kids volunteer from Interact Club provided their service to make this event a huge success.

The KOLOR Run 5K is just one of many community efforts by the Rotary Club of Plainsboro, North & South Brunswick. Since being chartered in 2002, the club has worked tirelessly across all five Rotary Avenues of Service — from youth programs to international outreach.

Sunday’s event was more than a race — it was a vibrant reminder of how service, wellness, and unity can bring a community together — one step at a time.
