IAA’s Second Show of the Season a Resounding Success: Jazim Sharma Mesmerizes Houston

The Indo-American Association (IAA) of Houston proudly hosted its second show of the season, Mukarrar, featuring the sensational ghazal singer Jazim Sharma with narration by the legendary Salim Arif. The evening was nothing short of spectacular, bringing together music lovers from across the city for an unforgettable night of soul-stirring melodies and timeless ghazals.

Jazim Sharma, a rising star in the world of ghazals and a celebrated composer, made his debut visit to the U.S. and delivered a breathtaking performance that left the audience spellbound. His rich, soulful voice and deep connection with the poetry of ghazals captivated fans, making the evening a true celebration of South Asian musical heritage.

From classic renditions to his original compositions, Jazim Sharma’s performance was met with enthusiastic applause and heartfelt appreciation from the audience. Following the performance, the artists were felicitated by esteemed community leaders Dev and Sushma Mahajan and Leela Krishnamurthy, who recognized their contributions to preserving and promoting the rich tradition of ghazals.

Up next, Houston audiences are invited to experience a mesmerizing Kathak performance by Shinjini Kulkarni on March 2, paying tribute to her grandfather, the legendary Birju Maharaj.
