The Gandhian Society, in partnership with the Consulate General of India in New York, successfully hosted a prayer meet and Raas Garba event to commemorate the 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 4th, 2024. Over 150 attendees gathered at the Bharat Sevashram in Kendall Park, NJ, to honor the legacy of the Father of the Nation.
The event was graced by the presence of the Consul for Visa/Passport and community affairs, Pragya Singh, who expressed her gratitude to the Gandhian Society for their unwavering commitment to spreading the message of peace, non-violence, and social justice among the youth. Anil Narang from World Vegan Vision emphasized the importance of adopting a vegan diet and generously sponsored a vegan meal for all attendees. Dr. Geeta Mehta, a professor of Gandhian Philosophy, also addressed the audience, highlighting the significance of Gandhian values in today’s world of technology and conflicts.
The evening began with a solemn prayer meet led by Mr. Bhadra Butala, the founder of the Gandhian Society. Following the prayers, the event transformed into a vibrant celebration of Indian culture with a lively Raas Garba performance by Varsha Joshi and the talented musicians of Josh Musicals. Attendees of all ages enjoyed the festive atmosphere and danced the night away.
