HCNJ to hold its annual health fair on September 15 at Durga Temple in South Brunswick

Health Camp of New Jersey – HCNJ will hold their annual Health Fair at Durga Temple in South Brunswick, NJ on Sunday, September 15, 2024, where hundreds will receive comprehensive medical, dental and eye screening and disease prevention, education and counseling services.  Health Camp of New Jersey, a non-profit organization under tax-exempt code 501© (3) has been organizing health fairs at this location to benefit needy people in the South Asian community since 1999.  

The health fair is open to all pre-registered participants who are uninsured or underinsured to receive preventive screening, education and counseling for medical, dental and mental health disorders. The deadline to complete online registration is September 9, 2024. The comprehensive health screening will include blood test, EKG, vision screening for glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, physical examination, cardiology evaluation, pharmacy and dietary counseling, various types of cancer screening and prevention education, women’s disorders, chronic diseases screening for diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disorders and many other specialty services such as Reiki therapy and access to care services.  The physicians, dentists, physical therapists, nurses and various specialties of internal medicine, cardiology, oncology, neurology, hematology and allied health specialists such as dietary and nutritional specialist, phlebotomists, EKG techs, medical assistants, nurses, social workers and medical students will provide their services to screen and educate patients on various chronic diseases abnormalities and cancer screening and education specifically targeted to the South Asian population. The Legacy Pharmacy Group will provide flu vaccines to all qualified participants on this day.   LabCorp, NJ Commission for the Blind, New Jersey Department of Health, Rutgers Medical School and many other community and health care and several volunteer organizations will provide their services during this health fair.  

To date, HCNJ provided screening to more than 13,000 needy people in South Asian communities throughout the state since its inception in 1998 and detected more than 4,000 chronic disease abnormalities. HCNJ celebrated its 25th Anniversary Gala event on November 19, 2023, for a new initiative to open a community health center in New Jersey by 2026 to benefit needy individuals and follow-up services throughout the year.
