The first shipment of exported drumstick (Moringa Oleifera) powder left India for the United States on December 29.
India exported 20 tonnes (metric tons) of organic certified moringa powder as a nutritional supplement through an air consignment to the United States this week.
Moringa oleifara, also known as the drumstick tree, is indigenous to the Indian subcontinent. It is used as vegetable ingredient in traditional cooking in parts of South India. Moringa powder is made from dried and crushed moringa leaves.

The statement stated that one of the APEDA-registered exporters from Telangana, Medikonda Nutrients has been assisted to start the export activities as per plan and the company aims to export 40 metric tons of moringa leaf powder to the United States. The company has set up a moringa product processing unit in Pulkal in Telangana, India.
