Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again emerged as the most popular leader across the world, with an approval rating of 69%, according to a survey by Morning Consult, a global decision intelligence firm. The survey, based on data collected from July 8-14, 2024, places PM Modi at the top of the list of 25 global leaders.
Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador grabbed the second spot with an approval rating of 63%, followed by Argentina’s President Javier Milei at 60%. Switzerland’s Federal Councillor Viola Amherd (52%), Ireland’s Simon Harris (47%), and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer (45%) round out the top six.
PM Modi’s consistent popularity can be attributed to his strong leadership and effective governance, particularly during challenging times. Despite facing a tough election in the spring of 2024, where his party lost its majority in parliament, PM Modi remains the most trusted leader among the Indian electorate.
The survey also highlights the modest approval ratings of other major global leaders, such as US President Joe Biden (39%), Canadian PM Justin Trudeau (29%), and France’s President Emmanuel Macron (20%). The leaders of Japan and South Korea had the lowest approval ratings among the 25 countries surveyed.
The latest rankings underscore the growing influence of India on the global stage and the trust placed in PM Modi’s leadership, as India continues to navigate complex geopolitical challenges and drive economic growth.
