Morari Bapu, the renowned Indian spiritual leader, is set to recite the Ram Katha at the United Nations headquarters in New York. This historic event aims to spread the timeless relevance of the Ramcharitmanas, one of the most revered Hindu scriptures.
The Ramcharitmanas carry a global message, transcending religious and cultural boundaries. Morari Bapu, who has been reciting Ram Kathas for over sixty-five years, draws from Vedic Sanatana Dharma. He believes that the Ramayana speaks to universal values needed in today’s world: truth, love, and compassion. By reciting the Ram Katha at the UN, he hopes to contribute to global harmony.
This marks the first time that Ram Katha is being organized at the United Nations headquarters, fulfilling a dream for Morari Bapu. His previous Ram Kathas have taken place in various cities and pilgrimage sites worldwide, including Sri Lanka, Indonesia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, the United States, Brazil, Australia, Israel, and Japan.
Beyond promoting peace, the Ram Katha aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. It emphasizes global cooperation, compassion, and addresses contemporary issues like mental health, environmental degradation, and the need for sustainable development. Morari Bapu’s vision is to unite people beyond boundaries, fostering a sense of global brotherhood through the teachings of the Ramayana.
“We must tackle mental health issues exacerbated by stress and competition. Good communication, or Satsang, is a powerful therapy for mental distress. The Ram Katha will highlight these teachings, advocating for a harmonious and balanced life,” he said.
