India’s Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla met with the Indian Diaspora in Moscow on Sunday, 14th July 2024, stating that Indians residing overseas are considered full-fledged partners of India’s progress and advancement.
Om Birla headed the Indian Parliamentary delegation at the 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum in St. Petersburg, Russia. Recognizing the Indian Diaspora’s role in nation-building in India and acknowledging Indians in Russia as the country’s representatives who influence India’s image in the country through their actions, contributions, and accomplishments. Birla commended the Indian community in Russia for their reputation as disciplined, hardworking, and law-abiding individuals, stating that their contributions to the progress of both nations have made all Indians proud.
Birla noted the active and vibrant participation of a small number of individuals in cultural events and Indian festivals. He continued to encourage the Indian Diaspora to support their homeland in Russia and enhance the bond between the two nations. Birla observed the involvement of Russians in Indian celebrations and stated that these personal connections are vital for the strong relationship between the two nations.
Birla also urged them to promote awareness of India’s diverse Sanatan culture, Yoga, and ancient wisdom among the Russian people, and to motivate them to travel to India. The Lok Sabha Speaker remembered Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Russia and his meeting with the Indian community.
He provided more details on how the current administration has initiated a fresh period of transformation, progress, and economic growth within the nation. Birla noted that despite being elected Prime Minister for a third term, his energy, enthusiasm for serving the country, and dedication to a developed India continue to inspire others to selflessly serve the country.
Birla further stated that the partnership encompasses a wide range of areas, such as security, defense, trade, economy, science and technology, satellite navigation and remote sensing, education, and culture. He encouraged the Indian Diaspora to strengthen the bonds and advance common interests.
