About 320 members of the Indian Seniors of Chicago celebrated their monthly birthdays and musical event on March 9, 2024. The program started at 1:00 AM and ended at around 2:00 PM. The program was successfully managed by Shri Bhupendra Suthar. At the event, Bhupendra Suthar, Geeta Suthar, Saroj Patel and Manjula Modi of the Seniors’ Organization offered a prayer and Shri Hanuman Chalisa was recited by all the members.
Mr. Bhupendra Suthar announced the name of the new president of the group Mr. Dilipbhai Patel who was unanimously elected by the Executive Committee. This announcement was welcomed by all the members with applause.
Further, Treasurer Mr. C. V. Desai presented the accounts for the month of February 2024 and announced the names of the donors. He also reminded all the members about the daylight saving time change on Saturday night.
The birthday program was celebrated by calling all the members whose birthdays fell in the month of March. President Shri Dilipbhai Patel greeted those members with birthday greeting cards and all the members present wished them a very happy birthday.
Shri Bipinbhai Shah gave a beautiful speech on the occasion of Maha Shivratri which holds great importance amongst Hindus, globally. This festival depicts the celestial union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, representing the cosmic dance of creation, preservation and destruction.
After that, a song and bhajan singing program was organized by the members. The participants were Durgesh Shah, Nalini Chudasma, Arvind Patel, Jyoti Vyas, Jayanti Oza, Manhar Parikh, Jashwant Seth, Chandrakant Chudasma, Satish and Daksha Parikh, Bipin Shah, Baiju Mehta, Hemant Modi and Hasmukh Sathia.
A moment of silence was observed to pay respect to divangat members of Indian Seniors of Chicago, Bhanuben Pandaya and Suresh Shah.
Rishit and Nupur Shah were then invited to explain the information on financial planning and will-making, answering the questions of the members and enriching the knowledge of the members on the subject.
The program was concluded with a sumptuous meal, chanting the sloka ‘Sahana Vavatu Sahanau Bhunaktu.’
