ISKCON Chicago Sri Sri Kisora-Kisori to Celebrate 50 years in June

In the heart of Rogers Park, Chicago, The ISKCON temple, and home of the dear Sri Sri Kisora-Kisori (Radha Krishna) deities, will be celebrating their 50th Anniversary this June 15th-18th, 2023.

We welcome everyone to ISKCON Chicago’s 50th Anniversary of the installation of Kisora-Kishori, located at 1716 West Lunt Avenue in Rogers Park, Chicago. This four-day event will honor all the members who have served in the ISKCON Chicago community during the last 50 years.

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness, ISKCON, is a worldwide spiritual society based on the philosophy of Bhagavad Gita and Sankirtana or musical chanting, and was founded in America by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in 1966. The movement has its roots from a spiritual tradition and the knowledge is accepted as being spoken by Sri Krishna 5000 years ago. Srila Prabhupada and his youthful disciples soon established temples in many cities around the world. ISKCON now has over 650 temples and centers, 110 restaurants, and a wide variety of community projects and still growing.

Srila Prabhupada came to the United States on a cargo ship in 1966. He sacrificed the remainder of his time on earth and dedicated his life to propagating the Hare Krishna Movement and expanding ISKCON worldwide.

In 1973, the deities of Radha-Krishna were installed in Chicago’s temple, which was located in Evanston. Srila Prabhupada affectionately named Them Kisora-Kisori, The youthful couple. In 1980 the deities were moved to their current location in Rogers Park.

The 50th Anniversary festival will include spiritual discussions, music, presentations, food, and lots of fun. Everyone is welcome. This celebration from June15th-18th is meant to both glorify their Lordships Sri Sri Kisora-Kisori and to also recognize and glorify all the wonderful devotees and well-wishers that did service and helped bring in 50 years of wonderful service in the Chicago land community.
