Indian American teenager Nirav Udupa, who fought a winning battle with cancer has recently authored a book titled “The Rise of the Wild Cards” on his tryst with cancer. He realized his dream of authoring his own book with help from Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area. The Vice Mayor of San Ramon City Council, Mark Armstrong awarded special recognition to Udupa at a City Council Meeting, earlier this month.
Udupa was diagnosed with cancer in 2020 and will spend time during treatment, thinking and talking about his book which he so badly wanted to write. His mother helped his idea to take shape by writing down and reading Udupa’s favourite mystery novels to put his time to good use.
Udupa, always longed to be an author since he was 6 years old. Make-A-Wish is a voluntary service group that helps children with critical illnesses achieve their biggest wishes, made his wish come true with the assistance of Dallas Graham. Graham’s Red Fred Project, a non-profit foundation provided writing and publishing assistance to help Udupa complete his book.
