Indian cinema’s ambitious retelling of the Ramayana is preparing for an international showcase as Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming epic gears up for its world premiere in Los Angeles on October 27, 2026. The special screening will take place at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, placing the much-anticipated production in the spotlight ahead of its theatrical debut.
The premiere will be hosted at the museum’s David Geffen Theater, which accommodates approximately 945 guests. The film will be screened in 3D, with Hollywood personalities, filmmakers, international media representatives and prominent industry figures expected to attend.
Adding a distinctly Indian touch to the occasion, the organisers are planning a Diwali-inspired red-carpet celebration. Guests have been encouraged to wear traditional Indian attire, bringing the colours and cultural spirit of the festival to the international event. The initiative also offers an opportunity to introduce audiences overseas to the cultural heritage behind one of India’s most enduring mythological narratives.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is envisioned as a two-part cinematic adaptation of the ancient epic. Ranbir Kapoor will portray Lord Rama, while Sai Pallavi plays Sita, Yash takes on the role of Ravana, and Sunny Deol appears as Hanuman. The ensemble cast also features several familiar faces from the Indian film industry.
The project is being produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. Its large-scale production and international promotional campaign reflect the makers’ ambition to present the legendary story to viewers across markets.
The first instalment is scheduled for worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026, with the second part planned for Diwali 2027. The film is expected to reach audiences in multiple Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, alongside an IMAX release.
With its Hollywood premiere, festive presentation and star-studded cast, Ramayana is positioning itself as a major event for Indian cinema on the global stage.
