Actor Kriti Sanon is reportedly set to headline an upcoming large-scale horror film backed by Maddock Films, marking another collaboration with the production house and a shift towards a genre beyond its popular horror-comedy projects. The untitled film is expected to be an out-and-out horror story, with details about its plot, cast and release date yet to be officially announced.
According to reports, Sanon has finalised the project following her recent appearances in Cocktail 2 and Tere Ishk Mein. The film is reportedly being planned on a grand scale, although the makers have not formally confirmed the development.
The project will mark Sanon’s ninth collaboration with Maddock Films, the production house behind several of her notable films. Their association includes Raabta, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Luka Chuppi, Arjun Patiala, Mimi and Bhediya, among other projects.
The upcoming film is also expected to mark Sanon’s second solo lead with Maddock after Mimi (2021), in which she played a young woman who agrees to become a surrogate mother. Her performance earned her the National Film Award for Best Actress, further establishing her credentials as a leading performer.
The reported project, however, is expected to focus exclusively on horror rather than combining supernatural elements with comedy, potentially offering a different cinematic experience for audiences.
The development comes as Sanon continues to explore varied roles across genres. She was recently seen in Cocktail 2, directed by Homi Adajania and co-starring Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna.
