A special luncheon in Manhattan brought together Indian parliamentarians, community leaders, business representatives and members of the media for an afternoon focused on strengthening connections between India and its diaspora in the United States.
The event was organized by the Alliance Indus Foundation in partnership with World Vegan Vision to welcome a 15-member Indian parliamentary delegation visiting New York. The delegation included representatives from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and was led by C. P. Joshi, Member of Parliament from Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, and Chairperson of the Lok Sabha Committee on Petitions.
More than 100 guests attended the gathering, which combined diplomatic discussions, community networking and cultural engagement. Speakers highlighted issues important to Indians living abroad, including access to Aadhaar services, the possibility of dual citizenship, diaspora philanthropy, knowledge sharing and opportunities for young people to contribute to India’s development.
Discussions also touched on economic cooperation between the United States and India, particularly cross-border financial partnerships and trade. Community representatives emphasized the valuable role played by Indian Americans in building stronger relationships between the two countries.
The program featured remarks from several civic and community figures, including representatives associated with New York City’s international affairs, healthcare, media and cultural organizations. On the occasion, Dilip Chauhan representing the NYC Mayor’s Office, emphasized the city’s strong relationship with the Indian diaspora.
Artists and community leaders also participated in welcoming the visiting lawmakers. During the luncheon gathering, Sunil Hali represented media and broadcasting platforms of Indian diaspora.
The luncheon was hosted under the leadership of Ashok Bhatt, Chairman of the Alliance Indus Foundation, while Nitin Vyas Vgn of World Vegan Vision handled public relations and event coordination. Ronak Jani served as master of ceremonies, with youth volunteer Aayushman Jani assisting with guest coordination and logistics.
Adding a culinary highlight, Michelin-starred chef Hemant Mathur supervised a specially prepared vegan and Jain menu at SAAR Indian Restaurant. The plant-based meal showcased Indian flavors while accommodating the dietary preferences of the visiting delegation.
The gathering served as an important platform for dialogue, highlighting the growing role of the Indian-American community in fostering cultural, economic and diplomatic ties between India and the United States.
