Indian entertainment received two nominations at the 2026 International Emmy Awards, with web series Real Kashmir Football Club earning a nomination in the Drama Series category and comedian Vir Das receiving his third nomination for his stand-up special Vir Das: Fool Volume. The nominations were announced on Wednesday, September 23.
Real Kashmir Football Club, which premiered in December 2025, is based on the real-life story of Real Kashmir FC, the first professional football club from Jammu and Kashmir. The eight-episode Hindi sports drama stars Manav Kaul and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub in lead roles and was directed by Rajesh Mapuskar and Mahesh Mathai.
The Indian series will compete in the Drama Series category against the UK’s A Thousand Blows, France’s Carême and Argentina’s Menem. Manav Kaul welcomed the recognition, describing the series as one of his favourite works and expressing happiness for the team behind the project.
The nomination also marks a significant milestone for Vir Das. His Netflix special Vir Das: Fool Volume has been nominated in the Comedy category, making him the only Indian to receive three International Emmy nominations. His previous nominations came in 2021 for Vir Das: For India and in 2023 for Vir Das: Landing, which won the International Emmy for Best Comedy.
Das will compete against Argentina’s División Palermo – Season 2, the UK’s Man vs Baby and Spain’s Old Dog, New Tricks. Fool Volume, which premiered on Netflix in July 2025, draws on a period in Das’s life when he had lost his voice.
The 54th International Emmy Awards will be presented in New York City on November 23, when winners across the categories will be announced.
