Superstar Rajinikanth has personally called actor Soori to appreciate his performance in Mandaadi, describing the film’s reception as a memorable moment in the actor’s evolving career as a leading man. Soori, who revealed the interaction on social media, said the superstar’s words were a blessing for him and the entire team.

Soori shared a picture from the conversation on X on September 14, writing that Rajinikanth had watched and loved Mandaadi. He described the heartfelt call as a “priceless moment” and said hearing the veteran actor’s voice had made the occasion especially meaningful.

Directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendi, Mandaadi released in theatres on September 10. The film centres on a traditional sailing boat race along Tamil Nadu’s coastline and has drawn attention for its sea-based action sequences, performances and distinctive setting.

The production involved an extensive shoot at sea, adding to the film’s technical and physical demands. Soori plays the central role, with Suhas, Mahima Nambiar and Sathyaraj among the supporting cast. GV Prakash Kumar has composed the music, while SR Kathir is the cinematographer.

Rajinikanth’s appreciation comes at an important stage in Soori’s career. Once widely recognised for comedy and supporting roles, the actor established himself as a leading man with films such as Viduthalai, Garudan and Maaman. Mandaadi continues that transition, with the superstar’s endorsement adding to the attention surrounding the film.

The film has also received positive responses from audiences and fellow actors, particularly for its performances and ambitious boat-racing sequences.
