Luxury hotels in the national capital are witnessing a sharp rise in bookings ahead of the upcoming BRICS Summit, with several properties reporting sold-out rooms and tariffs climbing to more than Rs 1 lakh a night. The surge in demand comes as Delhi prepares to host international leaders and large official delegations for the high-profile diplomatic gathering.
The 18th BRICS Summit is scheduled to be held in New Delhi on September 12 and 13, bringing senior leaders and officials from member countries to the capital. The influx of foreign dignitaries, government officials, business representatives and accompanying teams has put significant pressure on the city’s premium hotel inventory.
Several five-star properties in central Delhi and other prominent areas have either reported limited availability or significantly increased room rates for the summit period. Premium accommodation, which normally commands considerably lower tariffs outside major events, is now being offered at steep prices, reflecting the heightened demand for rooms close to key diplomatic and event venues.
The surge also highlights how major international events can temporarily reshape Delhi’s hospitality market. Meanwhile, preparations for the summit have intensified across New Delhi, with authorities focusing on security, traffic management and civic improvements ahead of the arrival of foreign dignitaries.
With the BRICS Summit approaching, the combination of strong demand and limited premium inventory is expected to keep Delhi’s hotel market under pressure, making accommodation significantly more expensive for visitors during the summit period.
