Emraan Hashmi-starrer Awarapan 2 has crossed the ₹100-crore mark at the Indian box office within five days of its release, giving the actor his first ₹100-crore film as a solo lead. Released on August 14, the sequel has emerged as one of the strongest performers of his career, helped by a robust opening weekend and sustained weekday collections.
The film, which also stars Disha Patani, reportedly collected ₹9.75 crore on its fifth day, taking its domestic earnings past the ₹100-crore milestone.
According to the report, the film has delivered a 122% return on investment, underlining its commercial success in its opening week. The achievement is particularly significant for Hashmi, whose earlier films have included successful ensemble and multi-starrer projects but had not previously seen him cross the ₹100-crore mark as the principal solo lead.
The sequel follows nearly two decades after the original Awarapan, which released in 2007 and developed a strong following over the years. The return of Hashmi to the franchise has been accompanied by considerable audience interest, with the film benefiting from the familiarity of the original as well as the sequel’s new cast and story.
The strong theatrical run also places Awarapan 2 among the notable Hindi releases of the Independence Day period. With the film continuing to draw audiences on weekdays, its second-week performance will determine whether it can build substantially on its opening-week success.
As of its fifth day, however, the film has already achieved a career milestone for Hashmi and established itself as a major box-office success.
