Sanjay Dutt Joins Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital’s Silver Jubilee Celebrations

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt attended the Silver Jubilee celebrations of Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute in Hyderabad on Monday, lending his support to the institution’s 25 years of service in cancer care. Invited as the chief guest, Dutt’s visit was marked by interactions with patients, medical staff and hospital trustees, highlighting the importance of awareness and hope in the fight against cancer.

The actor was welcomed by hospital chairman and actor-politician Nandamuri Balakrishna, along with his daughter Nara Brahmani, a member of the hospital’s trust board. Following the event, Brahmani expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dutt for accepting the invitation and supporting the hospital’s mission through his presence.

During his visit, Dutt toured several departments, including the PET-CT Unit, Radiation Oncology Department, Bone Marrow Transplant Unit and the paediatric ward. He met recovering patients, distributed fruits and gifts to children undergoing treatment, and interacted with doctors to understand the hospital’s advanced treatment facilities.

Addressing patients and attendees, Dutt reflected on his personal battle with lung cancer and his successful recovery through timely treatment. He urged patients to remain mentally strong, describing courage and a positive mindset as vital in overcoming the disease. The actor also recalled losing his mother to cancer, making his message especially poignant.

Balakrishna felicitated Dutt during the celebrations, which were attended by senior oncologists, hospital staff and trustees. The event underscored the hospital’s commitment to accessible, quality cancer care while drawing attention to the role of public figures in encouraging awareness, early diagnosis and patient support.
