Fresh speculation surrounding the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD has sent social media into a frenzy, with reports suggesting that Bollywood star Alia Bhatt may join the cast of the highly anticipated sci-fi franchise headlined by Prabhas. However, the filmmakers have not issued any official confirmation regarding her involvement.
The buzz intensified after multiple entertainment portals reported that Bhatt could be part of director Nag Ashwin’s ambitious sequel, which is currently being filmed under tight secrecy. Some reports even claimed that the actress has already shot a few scenes for the project, although these claims remain unverified.
Adding fuel to the speculation is the uncertainty surrounding Deepika Padukone’s character in the sequel. Industry reports indicate that Padukone is no longer attached to the second installment, prompting discussions over whether Bhatt could step into a key role within the expanding “Kalki Universe.” However, several reports suggest that if Bhatt joins the project, she may portray an entirely new character rather than replacing Padukone’s role.
The original Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin, emerged as one of India’s biggest cinematic successes, blending mythology and science fiction while featuring an ensemble cast led by Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan. The sequel is expected to continue the story of Bhairava and Ashwatthama while expanding the franchise’s futuristic universe.
