The Eye Foundation of America (EFA), a global force dedicated to restoring sight and creating brighter futures for children and communities, proudly announces its Golden Jubilee Celebrations commemorating 50 years of service (1977–2027) through a landmark international gathering in New York City at the iconic Rockefeller Centre January 29, 2027.
The celebrations will culminate at Rockefeller Center, New York, on January 29, 2027, bringing together distinguished global leaders, philanthropists, healthcare pioneers, CSR leaders, diplomats, medical experts, and changemakers to celebrate five decades of extraordinary service and to launch the next chapter of impact.
Founded in 1977 with the belief that vision is not a privilege but a fundamental human opportunity, EFA’s journey has impacted millions of lives through eye care, blindness prevention, childhood vision initiatives, outreach programs, and transformative partnerships across continents.
A defining moment of the celebrations will be the global observance of January 31, 2027 — International Day for a World Without Childhood Blindness, envisioned as a worldwide movement to mobilize governments, institutions, civil society, healthcare systems, and communities around a shared mission: ensuring that no child loses their future because of preventable blindness.
This historic milestone will also commemorate EFA’s Golden Jubilee, celebrating fifty years of innovation, compassion, and measurable impact in advancing equitable access to eye health and championing the belief that every child deserves the gift of sight.
As part of the celebrations, EFA will present the Robert Murphy Visionary Leadership Awards, honoring exceptional global leaders whose vision, courage, philanthropy, and commitment have created transformational and lasting social impact. The award recognizes individuals and institutions whose leadership inspires systemic change and advances humanity through service.
The celebrations are expected to serve as a global platform to strengthen partnerships, accelerate investments in childhood blindness prevention, and build momentum toward a future where quality eye care becomes accessible to every child.
