Mohanlal’s much-awaited film Drishyam 3, directed by Jeethu Joseph, has opened in theatres and is already drawing strong attention from viewers and reviewers. The film was released on May 21, 2026, and early reactions suggest that the third part of the popular thriller series is being watched closely by fans of the franchise.

The new film brings back Georgekutty, the character that made the Drishyam series one of Malayalam cinema’s biggest hits. According to early audience reactions, the film has been praised for its suspense, emotional scenes, and Mohanlal’s performance. Some viewers also said the first half and the interval block stand out, while a few noted that the pacing feels slow in parts.

Reviewers have described Drishyam 3 as a film that is more dramatic than clever. One review said the sequel is less sharp than the earlier films, while another called it the least effective film in the franchise so far. Even so, the movie has still managed to create strong interest because of the popularity of the original Drishyam films and the return of the lead actor in a role that audiences know well.

The film’s early box office response also appears solid. Reports said Drishyam 3 collected around Rs 6.96 crore net in India on its opening day, with the total India gross standing at Rs 8.16 crore while final numbers were still being updated. The film’s first-day performance shows that audience interest remains strong despite mixed critical views.

Jeethu Joseph once again directs the franchise, continuing the story of Georgekutty in a thriller that has stayed popular with Malayalam audiences for years. With strong turnout, active social media reactions, and wide discussion online, Drishyam 3 has made a notable start at the box office.
