In a major breakthrough for Telugu cinema, veteran actors Tabu and Nagarjuna Akkineni have officially begun filming for King100, Nagarjuna’s historic 100th Telugu film. The shooting started on April 27, 2026, marking a nostalgic reunion for the pair after 28 years.

Tabu confirmed the news on Instagram by posting a photo of the film’s clapboard with the caption: “And we begin with the #King100 #Nagarjuna @annapurnastudios”. The movie is being produced by Annapurna Studios, Nagarjuna’s own production house, and is directed by Tamil filmmaker Ra Karthik, who previously directed Nitham Oru Vaanam.

King100 is a rags-to-riches story with father-daughter drama at its core. While Nagarjuna will play the title role, Tabu has been cast in a pivotal character. Importantly, there will be no romance between the two actors in this film. The movie will feature two other actresses as the romantic leads.

This collaboration brings back memories of their classic films Ninne Pelladatha and Aavida Maa Aavide, where they shared tremendous on-screen chemistry. Tabu was last seen in Priyadarshan’s horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, co-starring Akshay Kumar.

Described as a high-budget action-family entertainer, fans across India are eagerly awaiting this milestone project, which promises to blend emotion and mass appeal.

King100 is expected to release in 2026 in Telugu and is one of the most anticipated movies in Tollywood this year.
