JSW Motors, the new automotive arm of Sajjan Jindal-led JSW Group, plans to open at least four company-owned “experience centers” across India before launching its first car later this year. The key cities include Mumbai, New Delhi and Ahmedabad.
This move marks the first new homegrown automotive brand in India in decades. JSW Motors will debut its initial product in the second half of 2026. The first vehicles will be a plug-in hybrid and a range-extender model, both carrying the JSW badge.
The conglomerate aims to build brand presence early by offering customers a curated experience with its upscale plug-in hybrid at these showrooms. Prospective dealer partners are expected to see the initial product lineup, including models from JSW’s partnership with China’s Chery Automobile Co., around June or July.
JSW Group already has a successful joint venture in India with China’s SAIC Motor Corp., which operates as MG Motor India. However, JSW Motors will function as a separate entity focused on new-energy vehicles, including electric and hybrid models.
The group is building a manufacturing facility in Maharashtra to produce JSW Motors’ new-energy vehicles, along with electrified trucks and buses under a separate company, JSW Greentech Ltd.
With this bold entry, JSW Motors is set to shake up India’s passenger vehicle market, bringing fresh competition in the growing new-energy segment.
