Tata Steel has expanded its partnership with Google Cloud to build a unified, enterprise-wide artificial intelligence strategy across its global value chain, the company said on Wednesday. The steel maker said it has already deployed more than 300 specialised AI agents in just nine months to improve efficiency, speed and precision across its operations.

The company said the project is being built on Google Cloud’s unified technology stack and is meant to turn AI from a test tool into a daily business partner for employees. Tata Steel said the effort is helping it create what it calls a new “engine of execution” across the organisation.

According to the company, two key platforms are driving the change. Zen AI is an internal low-code platform that allows employees without data science skills to build, test and deploy specialised AI agents. Tata Steel Digital Assistant, or TDA, brings together information from public data, internal systems and user data into one command centre for decision-making.

Tata Steel said TDA is already helping the internal HR helpdesk resolve more than 70% of routine employee tickets on its own. The company also said its AI tools have cut average customer turnaround time by 50% by analysing complaints and routing them faster.

The company said the system is also being used in manufacturing and safety work. Tools such as Safety EyeQ analyse live video feeds in high-risk zones, while Asset Sphere agents help assess equipment health and support maintenance planning. Tata Steel said this is part of a wider push to use AI across manufacturing, supply chain, customer service and enterprise operations.

The partnership was announced in Mumbai on April 22, 2026. Tata Steel said the move is part of its broader digital transformation journey and its push to strengthen execution across its global business.
