Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is in advanced discussions with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali for a new romance film Insha Allah, eyeing a comeback to full‑on love stories after years of largely action‑centric roles.
The two, who last teamed up in the 2002 blockbuster Devdas, are now in an advanced stage of talks for a project where Khan will play an “age‑appropriate” character over the age of 50. The script reportedly charts the life of a man in his 50s going through a rough patch in his career.
The story takes a romantic turn when his character meets a woman who runs a start‑up; the two fall in love, turning the film into a mature, emotionally driven love story aimed at older audiences. A source said the film is meant to present romance beyond youth, focusing on life experiences and emotional depth rather than teenage or young‑adult love.
Khan had earlier turned down another Bhansali project, believed to be Inshaallah, which was eventually shelved after Salman Khan walked out of it. If the current talks are finalised, this will mark the actor’s first proper romantic lead with Bhansali in over two decades, and the first time he will headline a love story as a man over 50.
