Bollywood star Salman Khan has surprised fans with a big change to his upcoming war drama. The movie, once called Battle of Galwan, is now named Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace. Director Apoorva Lakhia says this shift shows the true heart of the story.
Lakhia spoke openly about the decision. He said that it was not a quick choice. The team had two names ready from day one. As they made the film, they saw it is more than just a fight. It highlights humanity, care, and the tough struggles of soldiers. The new title matches a key song that fans love. A new poster shows Salman behind a bloody log with spikes, sending a strong message for peace.
The film draws from the 2020 Galwan Valley clash. This sad event saw Indian and Chinese troops fight hand-to-hand. Twenty Indian soldiers died, including Colonel Santosh Babu of the 16 Bihar Regiment. Salman plays this brave leader. Chitrangada Singh leads the women, with Abhilash Chaudhary, Ankur Bhatia, and others in key roles.
China had slammed the project earlier. They said it twists facts about the border fight. India’s government stayed out, saying film matters are for other bodies. Release was set for April 17 but moved to August for reshoots.
